Pool Deep Clean & Green-to-Clean Service.

A one-time intensive restoration for heavily neglected, green, algae-infested, or post-storm pools. Where weekly service maintains a healthy pool, a deep clean takes a pool that's been left for weeks or months and brings it back to swimmable condition — usually within 3-7 days depending on severity.

01 — Who it's for

When to book Deep clean.

New homeowners who inherited a green pool, landlords cleaning up between tenants, homeowners back from extended travel, or pools knocked out by hurricane storm surge.

What's included

  • Heavy debris removal — leaves, branches, sometimes wildlife — by hand and with high-capacity nets
  • Full filter breakdown: cartridge soak in muriatic-acid solution, sand backwash and rinse, or DE grid teardown depending on filter type
  • Surface scrubbing of every wall, floor, step, and tile with brushes and (where appropriate) acid wash for stains
  • Triple-shock chlorine treatment with phosphate remover and clarifier to break down organic load
  • 24-48 hour run cycle on the pump to circulate treatment, with daily check-ins to monitor progress
  • Vacuum cycle on the pool floor once water clears, removing settled algae and dead organic material
  • Final water balance: free and total chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid — all brought into spec
  • Equipment inspection and a written punch-list of any repairs needed before resuming weekly service

When you need this service

Pool is visibly green, has standing algae on walls or floor, water is cloudy or murky, or the surface has a film. Also after hurricanes (especially with storm surge that introduces brackish water and debris), after extended vacancy, or when buying a home where the pool was last serviced months ago.

Pricing

Deep cleans are quoted individually because severity varies enormously. Mild green-to-clean on a 15k-gallon residential pool typically runs $400–$700. Hurricane-grade restoration with stained surfaces, blown equipment, and weeks of standing algae can be $1,500+. We send a firm quote after a photo review before any work starts.

FAQ

Pool service questions, answered.

What homeowners ask us most often about pool service in Deep clean.

How long does it take to clean a green pool?

Three to seven days for most pools. Day one is the heavy lift — debris out, filter cleaned, shock dosed. Days two and three the pool clouds up as algae dies and gets pulled into the filter. Days four through seven we monitor chemistry, vacuum settled material, and rebalance. Most pools are clear and swimmable by day five.

Will a deep clean damage my pool surface?

Done correctly, no. We use surface-appropriate brushes (soft for vinyl liners, stiff for plaster and pebble), neutral-pH stain removers near the waterline, and only acid-wash in cases where the surface is genuinely stained and able to handle it. We document surface condition before we start so there's no ambiguity later.

Do I need to drain my pool for a deep clean?

Almost never. Draining a Florida pool is risky — the water table is high, and an empty pool can actually float out of the ground after a heavy rain. We treat the existing water with shock and clarifier in the vast majority of cases. Full drain-and-acid-wash is a separate, rarer service for stained interiors and quoted accordingly.

Can you save a pool that's been neglected for a year?

Usually yes. We've restored pools that sat unused through entire seasons. The question is rarely 'can it be saved' — it's whether the equipment (pump, filter, heater, salt cell) survived the neglect. Long-stagnant water can corrode metal components or burn out pump motors, which is why our deep clean always includes an equipment inspection at the end.

What happens after the deep clean is done?

Almost all deep-clean customers transition straight into weekly service. The first 30 days of weekly maintenance are critical — a freshly recovered pool can backslide quickly without consistent chemistry. We give a 10% discount on the first month of weekly service for deep-clean customers.

Words from our clients.

Don't just take our word for it.

Jacob and his team have done great work on our two commercial pools. After the hurricane he had every opportunity to price gouge us like almost everyone is doing, but instead he gave us a very fair deal and showed up to help us get back online. Very grateful to have a good and honest pool company who has our back. Highly recommend this company.

I can't say enough good things about Jacob at Pool Optics, by far the best pool service that I've had. I own an Air BnB and Jacob has always been able to keep the pool perfect for my tenants. I've been through a number of companies over the years until I found Jacob — he is a true professional who goes above and beyond.

Stellar service! If you're looking for a solid pool company that answers immediately and gets you in early — this is your stop. Jacob is incredible. We purchased a home in Oldsmar with a heated salt water pool and had no clue what to do. Within 3 days he was out, cleaned the pool, and even cleared a TON of debris off our cage. Highly recommend!
